Today, iPhone (3G and 3Gs) unlock for OS 3.1.* with baseband 05.11.07 was released to public by George Hotz.
One can now safely upgrade their iPhone OS to 3.1.2 with latest iTunes and get it unlocked.
The latest iPhone software update upgrades the baseband to 05.11.07 for which unlock is now available.
To upgrade follow these steps (in Windows):
1. Update/Restore the iPhone software to OS 3.1.2 using iTunes (recommended).
2. Download blackra1n.exe from http://blackra1n.com/
3. Jailbreak your phone by executing blackra1n.exe and following the shown steps .
4. Then install blacksn0w to unlock your iPhone – using repo http://blackra1n.com/
